The cute factor

Here is a secret about children, or at least about mine. They don't get weird or awkward looking or whatever as they get older, they only get cuter. And it increases as they begin to do things, like dance and talk and mimic you. Well that last part can backfire.

Lately Davy has been a little bundle of super cuteness. He dances to music, he has begun to say words like: "Bye Daddy", "Go Diego Go", "Thank you" and pretty much anything else he hears us say. He doesn't always say the words perfectly, in fact mostly the words are garbled and are only understandable because we know what he is trying to say. But we are getting to the point where we have to be very careful about what comes out of our mouths. This should be interesting.

Also Davy has begun mimicking things he sees. This can be really good, or really bad. A few months back I was sick with a cold, and I ended up spitting a lot, into the toilet, or sink or garbage can to get rid of phlegm I coughed up. Often I was holding Davy when this happened. Guess what Davy does? That is right! He spits, he spits and spits and then plays with the spit. We have been trying to break him of this for months now. Still no success. He shakes his head when I say no, because I shake my head. He points to things, and he is learning new things every day. For example, the other day Kevin was shaving, he had no shirt on so that he wouldn't get water and shaving cream on anything. I took Davy into the bathroom to watch Daddy shave. As we watched I reached over and pinched Kevin's nipple, yes I know too much info, well Davy seeing what I did also reached over to pinch Daddy's nipple, Kevin sees this and turns away and says, "No, not happening!" Sigh, I have got to remember what not to do around Davy. It was super funny at the time, but not something I want Davy learning.

Morals of the world

There are some things about some of the morals of the world that I really don't understand all that well. For example, long term boyfriend/girlfriend situations where they begin to act like a married couple. For example they buy a house together and begin to plan and start a family. Nothing quite says temporary like the phrase "We're just dating." Dating is great and all and if you choose to have sex during that relationship well, that is your choice. But actively trying to get pregnant with someone who you are not serious enough with to marry... Well that really boggles my mind.

As people may know, I'm pregnant and because I am pregnant I have switched up my forum boards that I read. I am now a frequent reader of a birth board. A birth board is made up of a bunch of women who are all due in the same month and year that I am. There a huge slew of pregnant women who are roughly about as far along as I am come together to voice their opinions, their concerns, their sorrows, their fears, their questions and pretty much anything else that comes to mind. And one of the common thread topics is: "I don't know if my boyfriend and I are going to stay together!!" So here you have a woman who has signed herself up for the possibility of becoming a single mother just because they didn't think it was important or even necessary to wait to have sex, or sometimes to have children, until they were married. And now that they are pregnant most of them are not considering marriage, because it just doesn't feel right, or they don't want to, or why should they?

As I mentioned before, it boggles my mind. Now don't get me wrong, plenty of marriages end up in divorce. All the time. But it is a good bit more difficult when you are married to just split. There is a better chance of sticking together than there would be if you were just dating. If you are just dating someone it is actually pretty easy to break up the relationship. There is no legal actions taken, you take your stuff, and I take mine and we go our separate ways. And if there happens to be a child in the mix? Well truth is, not all dads pay child support.

So again I find myself wondering, even though your morals are not the same as mine when it comes to how you choose to live your life, don't you kind of think about the possibilities of losing your significant other in a situation like this? What really confuses me are the threads about how the woman and her boyfriend have been trying to have a child for like two or three years. Not sure that you really want to marry this person, but you have been trying to conceive for years? I don't quite get it. And no, I can not ask these questions on my birth board, I would be attacked faster than a sneezing pregnant woman could wet her pants. So instead I will post my confusion here.

Hippies

I will never be a hippy. Though I do like to breastfeed, babywear, and enjoy the environment there are many things that I just can't agree with. Though I think breastfeeding is good for a child, I do think there is a limit. I can not see myself ever breastfeeding past one year. Circumcision, when it came to making this decision Kevin and I had quite a few conversations on the matter, I had read a good number of articles as well as personal comments, and had even chatted with a man who was intact but choose to circumcise his boys, and I felt that circumcision was the right choice for us but wanted to leave it up to Kevin. Kevin chose to circumcise our boys and I am fine with that. Though I do enjoy the environment and would like to preserve it, I also think that sometimes the needs of humans outweigh the environment of certain areas. War, while I do not think that war is a good thing, I would never take out the choices of our Presidents out on the soldiers who have signed up to protect out country. If you want to bash war, bash the president don't bash the soldiers.

And to finish it all off, most people who identify themselves as hippy type people tend to also identify as liberal. I just don't lean that way. While I don't always lean completely to the right I usually don't lean much to the left. I will never be a hippy.

Knock Knock

So today while Kevin was in the bathroom getting ready for work (showering, shaving, etc) Davy decided to knock on the door. We keep the bathroom door closed because Davy likes to play with stuff in the bathroom, especially the toilet plunger (ick!!). So Davy knocked on the door (probably with a toy) and Kevin, thinking it was me, says, "Yeah?" and Davy answers back, "Aaaaaah!" Both Kevin and I couldn't help but laugh, Davy really wanted to see his daddy and knocking at least got him a chance to talk with him. Not that he can do much talking yet. Cute things kids do.

My body makes no sense

Pregnancy, it comes with all the happy fun symptoms. Back pain, hip pain, breast pain, pain when your uterus stretches, leg pain...why do I feel like there is a common theme here? Oh there is also moodiness (so you become a pain to others), and tiredness, and forgetfulness, and...am I forgetting something here? Oh yes! The most famous (or infamous) symptom of all, Morning Sickness. Although, as any pregnant woman who has experienced morning sickness knows, it does not only come in the morning. It comes at all times of the day. So here you are, your body is telling you that you are starving. So you go to get food, but your stomach is telling you that pretty much any food you make for yourself will make you hurl it up in the face of any offending person who comes your way, or if that fails into the toilet, sink or whatever receptical you can find. And yet you are hungry, ravenously hungry. So you go to make some food, and now your new and improved super sniffer comes into play. Suddenly the food that you thought might work now smells like last week's garbage (well not really but that is what your stomach is telling you it smells like) and now the food is no longer an option. So you find some small but scentless food option and eat it before that sickness becomes too much and you do end up vomiting. And the morning sickness goes away for a short while. Because though the morning sickness can sometimes be banned by food if you don't eat enough it can sometimes come back, very quickly.

So here to come down to the title, my body makes no sense. One would think that to keep from feeling sick you would stay away from offending items, but those items help keep the sickness away, but only sometimes and only for just so long.

Either way, I have been plenty nauseous this go round, but not vomiting yet. I take that as a good sign and will try not to tempt fate. And in the mean time I will try to find ways to inflict less pain (yeah right) and eat what I can.

Back Pain

So on April 30th, I pulled a neck muscle while I was trying to sleep. From that point on I have been having awful neck and shoulder pain that has been sending pain down my arms. I probably mentioned this before. So tonight I was down on the floor with Davy playing with him and some of his toys, dancing to the music from some of his toys. And I got this crazy idea to lay down on the ground, on my back. Getting down there was easy enough, but then I had to get up. At first it was just my neck and shoulder pain that was giving me problems, but then my lower back came into play and said, "Nope, you aren't getting up." Eventually I just toughed my way through the pain and forced myself up, but it was not an enjoyable experience. Thankfully I am going to see a chiropractor on Saturday and though I will not be getting an adjustment hopefully I will be on the route of getting things fixed for a bit. At the moment though I just hurt. Hopefully I will be able to get out of bed in the morning.

1st Ultrasound

My first ultrasound will be on May 18th, I will be 7 weeks along at that point. Hopefully I will also be able to find out whether I am having twins or not. I am still on the progesterone shots and will probably be on them until I am about 10 weeks along, that is quite a bit of time still. The progesterone is making my backside numb in the areas where I have gotten the shot. The nurse said this is normal. It is a good bit weird but it also tends to work out well because in some areas Kevin doesn't even need to worry about hurting me because I can not feel the needle even go in anymore.

In other news I have been dealing with back pain like crazy, my neck and shoulders are super tense and have been sending jolts of pain down my arms. I have been feeling morning sickness for weeks now but have not yet gotten to the point of throwing up. I am kind of happy for that. It is kind of weird, I have basically told everyone about our pregnancy, except the people at work. I probably will not tell them until I hit the "safe" zone where miscarriage is pretty much not going to happen. And they wont really notice since I don't come in very often.
